Our Story

In 2012 a small group of Beaufortonians heeded the call from the featured documentary “Awaken the Dragon”, shown at the Beaufort International Film Festival and from this inspiration DragonBoat Beaufort was formed.

DragonBoat Beaufort (DBB) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to assisting cancer patients who live, work, or receive treatment in Beaufort County. We are a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

DragonBoat Beaufort’s members all share: The excitement of the sport; paddling for pleasure or in competition; a compassion for one another through the strength of camaraderie; and a commitment to funding DragonBoat Beaufort’s outreach program through our annual RaceDay festival, grants and charitable events.
